John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced on Thursday that Stamford resident William “Big Head” Reyes, 36, has been sentenced to 41 months in state prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Reyes and Oregon resident John Koukouras used a Guernsey Hill Road home in LaGrangeville to grow, process and distribute marijuana. The investigation into the operation also determined that Reyes was also being supplied with large amounts of marijuana by a Queens man, who delivered an estimated 40 pounds of the drug to him in exchange for $80,000.
Reyes was arrested on July 26 last year following the investigation. On the day of his arrest, investigators executed court-authorized searches of Reyes’ Stamford residence and the Lagrangeville grow house.
In Stamford, approximately 18 kilograms of marijuana, paraphernalia associated with narcotics distribution and $71,004 in cash were seized. At the LaGrangeville residence, 140 marijuana plants were seized, including related equipment.
In addition to his time in prison, Reyes was ordered to forfeit his interest in both the $71,004 in cash seized from his residence, and a 2012 Toyota Camry. Koukouras and Garcia have previously pleaded guilty to related charges. Koukouras was sentenced to two years in prison, while Garcia awaits sentencing.
